Day 2

On the second day of Sharad Navratri, devotees worship Maa Brahmacharini who represents Goddess Durga in her ascetic form. This form of the Navdurga symbolises penance and self-discipline.

Colour: You can seek the blessings of Maa Brahmacharini by using the colour red which is a signifier and symbol of values of love and passion and evokes strength of mind and heart within her devotees.

Day 3

Day 3 of Navratri is for worshipping Maa Chandraghanta. She is mostly depicted with 10 hands and a half moon on her forehead. She is worshipped to seek courage and divine protection.

Colour: Royal blue is the colour used to worship Maa Chandraghanta, signifying a blend of power with serenity. Dress up in royal blue outfits on the third day of Navratri to express your devotion towards this form of Maa Durga.

Day 4

On the fourth day of Navratri, people worship that form of Goddess Durga which is seen as the creator of our entire universe – Maa Kushmanda.

Colour: Since Maa Kushmanda is seen as the source of all energy who gives light even to the Sun, she is associated with the colour yellow. Yellow also signifies warmth, happiness, and optimism.

Day 5

Worship the maternal qualities of the feminine on the fifth day of Navratri by seeking the blessings of Goddess Skandamata. She is depicted as the mother of lord Kartikeya who is also known as Skanda.

Colour: This motherly form of Goddess Durga is celebrated with the colour green that stands for fertility and prosperity and brings her devotees lots of abundance and cheerful new beginnings in their life.

Day 6

On the sixth day, Goddess Durga is worshipped as her fierce warrior form known as Maa Katyayani who destroyed the demon Mahishasura. Carrying weapons and mounted on a lion, she blesses her devotees with protection from evil energies.

Colour: To worship Maa Katyayani use the colour Grey on day 6 of Navratri since it stands as a symbol of balance, wisdom, and righteousness.

Day 7

On day 7, Maa Durga manifests as Goddess Kalaratri, one of the most violent forms of the deity. Commonly known as Kali, she destroys darkness, ignorance, and all negative energies ruthlessly.

Colour: A vibrant orange colour should be used on the seventh day of navratri to seek Maa Kalratri’s protection from all evil and even internal vices that corrupt one’s soul.

Day 8

The eighth form of Goddess Durga is Maa Mahagauri, worshipped on the eighth day of Navratri, also known as Mahaashtami. This form of Navdurga bestows the devotees with great spiritual strength which brings them peace and tranquility.

Colour: Maa Mahagauri is celebrated and worshipped with a very unique colour which is made by blending blue and green. We are talking about the colour peacock green. It symbolises inner knowledge, compassion, and calmness.

On the last day of Navratri or the Mahanavami, Hindus worship Maa Siddhidatri, the final manifestation of the Navdurga. She is the provider of all 8 siddhis (divine and supernatural powers).
